The Autonomous Zone

Jay Nelson is a local craftsman and artist whose handiwork can be seen at Gottino. When he is not fixing loose tiles or painting walls or teaching woodworking he is probably surfing or working on his own art. His sculptures are both fine art and self-sustaining utilitarian objects best put to use on sunny days. A treehouse he built was written up in the New York Times Magazine and he has also built an energy efficient camper which traversed the USA more than once. In addition to other case studies for travel, a motor-scooter outfitted for exploration has recently been crafted by this talented, young artist.
