
According to a report drawn up for the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM), Italy leads the world in organic wine production. Out of the 80,000 hectares producing organic wine worldwide, Italy claims 34,000 of them. There are 51,000 organic farmers in Italy who rake in 2.2 billion euros. Going green in Italy isn’t just for winemakers, however—Sicilian farmer Signor Culetto labels his yearly crops of white onions, beans, zucchini, lettuce, and tomatoes beyond organic.
